Protesters in Washington slam killing of 3 Muslim students

They came from across the Washington
DC metro area to pray and raise
awareness--a gathering to encourage
ethnic and religious tolerance. This vigil at
the White House comes days after a triple
shoot
ing that left three Muslims dead.
Rakiv Mazumder says he heard about the
shootings through social media.
46 year old Stephen Hicks allegedly shot
the three victims on Tuesday. Police say
they believe the shooting happened over
a dispute about a parking space outside
the building where the suspect lives.
However, many believe that the victims
were targeted because they were
Muslim.

As the racial and ethnic dynamic shifts in
the United States, the country battles
with its evolving diversity. Nigah Mughal
says she has received Islamophobic
comments she usually ignores. But when
an individual crosses the line, she says
justice should be served.
The FBI says it’s launching its own probe
into the killing of the three students.
Representatives from the Council on
American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim
advocacy group, welcomed the
announcement from the FBI.
More than 100 religious and community
groups including predominantly Muslim
groups are calling on the Obama
administration to open a hate crimes
inquiry and publicly denounce the
shootings. The letter is signed by the
groups and is addressed to Eric Holder.
